Ian has also worked as a developer in fields such as speech recognition and satellite communications after completing a PhD in space science.

Originally trained inorganic Chemist and UNIX expert, Dr. Hauß has joined Merck KGaA in 1998 coming from the IBM, where he worked for two years as a consultant in the computer data storage area (ADSM or TSM).

He was project leader in the planning and implementation of a research LIMS at the Darmstadt site. This LIMS (now AWM sold by Waters) is focused on the integration of 400 users of an ELN system at the same site. He works in a GMP regulated environment within the central analytical service department of Merck.

He currently works on IT projects in the central analytics department.
